Killers of Amjad Sabri among 10 awarded death sentence

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday confirmed death sentences awarded to 10 hardcore terrorists involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, killing of innocent civilians and attacks on law enforcement agencies. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists have been convicted for involvement in killing of a total of 62 persons, including five civilians, 11 police officials and 46 security personnel. They also include terrorists who killed renowned Qawwal Amjad Farid Sabri. Besides, five convicts have also been awarded jail terms. According to details, Ishaq S/O Ibrahim and Asim S/O Abdul Rehman, members of a proscribed organization, were involved in killing of renowned Qawwal Amjad Farid Sabri as well as attacks on law enforcement agencies, which resulted in death of 17 officials. Arish Khan S/O Aslam, also member of a proscribed organization, was involved in attack on Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar, which resulted in death of four people. He was awarded death sentence. Rafique S/O Hameed Khan, member of a proscribed organization, was involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies, which resulted in death of Lt Col Yousaf, Assistant District Officer (Frontier Constabulary) Karim Khan, Naib Subedar Fazal Wahid, Naib Subedar Fayaz and 16 soldiers. Habib ur Rehman S/O Khoba Gul, member of a proscribed organization, was involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies, which resulted in death of Lt Col Anwar Abbas along with three soldiers. Fayyaz S/O Gul Faraz, member of a proscribed organization, was involved in attacks on armed forces, which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Fateh, Havildar Pervez Iqbal, Havildar Basharat, police constable Saleem Khan and four other soldiers. Ismail Shah S/O Nek Badshah, member of a proscribed organization, was involved in killing of Naib Subedar Nasim Khan besides attacks on armed forces. He was awarded death sentence. Fazal S/O Abdul Mateen, member of a proscribed organization, was involved in attacks on armed forces which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Fateh, Havildar Pervez Iqbal, Havildar Basharat and five other soldiers. Hazrat Ali S/O Ali, member of a proscribed organization, was involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies, which resulted in death of Havildar Wahab and three other soldiers. Habib Ullah S/O Anwar Baig, member of a proscribed organization, was involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies, which resulted in death of a police constable and injuries to another official.
